1. 政策

2. 目的

3. 程序

   1. 招聘过程中的背景调查

      如果应用得当，背景调查可以成为招聘过程中一个有效的工具，可以帮助面试官选择一个成功的职位候选人。 申请人需要在完整的申请或简历包中提供三份UMW的推荐信。 这项政策的目的是为了规范在检查大学职位申请人的推荐信时使用的程序。

      雇用前查询的限制适用于直接向申请人或间接向申请人提出的查询。 During the process of checking references, the interviewer cannot ask previous employers or other sources about an applicant’s disability, illness, workers’ compensation history, or other similar restricted matters. 面试官可以询问应聘者的工作职能和任务，他/她执行基本工作职能的能力，完成工作的质量和数量，出勤记录，以及其他与残疾无关的与工作有关的问题。

      面试包里有一份背景调查表。 如果背景调查是招聘过程的一部分，那么以下准则将适用。

      1. 每次推荐人检查必须填写推荐人检查表。
      2. 面试官将尝试通过联系至少一个其他推荐人来核实从推荐人调查中得到的负面信息。
      3. 在将筛选/面试材料寄给平等机会/平权行动官员时，必须附上一份完整的推荐调查表的副本。

      在招聘过程中可随时进行背景调查； 然而，当与提交的申请材料和个人面试的评估结合使用时，它们是最有益的。 虽然没有必要对筛选和/或面试的所有申请人进行背景调查，但何时使用调查的决定应该是合理的，并以公平和一致的方式实施。

   2. 收到潜在雇主的背景调查要求

      The respondent to the reference inquiry must serve in a supervisory capacity and have direct knowledge of the person’s work history and job performance. 如果前任或现任雇员的潜在雇主就工作推荐信与你联系，以下准则将适用：

      1. 你方对询盘的答复，包括提出的问题和给出的答复的摘要，应记录下来以备将来参考。
      2. Answer only those questions that directly relate to the person’s job duties and/or performance.
      3. You may answer questions concerning job functions and tasks performed by the applicant, the quality and quantity of work performed, how job functions were performed, or the person’s attendance record (do not state or attempt to justify reasons for any absences).
      4. 你没有义务回答不恰当的问题。
      5. Do not discuss the person’s disability, illness, workers’ compensation history, or other similar restricted matters.
      6. Any statements or responses given to a potential employer that reflect negatively on the employee must be supported by documentation in the employee’s personnel file.
